Dr. Susan Matthews
Optometrist, B. Sc., OD.
Dr. Matthews was born and raised in Gander, Newfoundland. After relocating to the HRM, she began her career at Bedford Eye Care, later becoming a partner in January 2019. She graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry on the Dean’s honor list in 2016 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2011.
Dr. Matthews has a special interest in providing pediatric care as she herself got her first pair of glasses at the age of 5 and has first hand experience with how important eye care is for child development. She is also passionate about dry eye therapy.
She is active in the optometric community and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Nova Scotia College of Optometrists.
Dr. Matthews is grateful to get to work with such a great group of individuals at Bedford Eye Care and enjoys helping the practice continue to grow.
